But Who’ll Play Gambit?

“OK so they finally added Beast,” said my sister. “But now where’s gambit?”

Looks like she’ll get her wish.

Now I wasn’t too keen on the comic book movie genre. But I realize that comic book movies are here to stay and so I’ve made my peace.

I haven’t been really disappointed with what Marvel Studios has done with the X Men franchise.

I was a tad excited when I heard that both a Wolverine and a Magneto film were in the works.

But an X men four?

I wrinkled my nose a bit at this one. Apparently, even trilogies aren’t good enough anymore. There must be a fourth film way after the fact. Can’t anyone just make one film anymore? Anyway, I digress.

The thing that piqued my interest regarding the rumored X Men 4 film was the news that they’d finally include Gambit as one of the characters.

And then I was even more interested when I discovered who Marvel originally  had in mind to play him.

Enter LOST’s Josh holloway (Sawyer).

Woo hoo!

I was delighted at the prospect of a career for Holloway after lost and also at the feeling of a good actor/character match.

If the gossips are right, I thought, I’ll check the movie out for sure.

I couldn’t wait to see him on the big screen and can’t wait to see what he would do with the role.

Turns out, however, that Taylor Kitsch got the part instead and will make his debut as Gambit in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Here’s an interview.

Looks like he’ll do an OK job.

I would have casted Holloway though.
